The Toulouse Indian Film Festival (Festival des Cinémas Indiens de Toulouse - FCIT), under associative structure, is celebrating its first edition in April 2013. It is one of the few film festivals in Europe entirely dedicated to Indian subcontinent films. Since its creation, more than 130 films have been screened in the city of Toulouse and the Occitanie region, including 55 previously unreleased films in France. Its contemporary programming is dedicated to a cultural bridge between India and France, beyond the received ideas, both accessible and demanding.
In a few years, the Festival has become a reference for programming and frequently consults its catalog, network of directors, and knowledge of Indian films and contemporary India to facilitate sessions and debates.
The festival preserves rare and unique copies of its own, which are shown in cinemas throughout France as requested by programmers and events. Its awards are recognized and sometimes even help young independent filmmakers to access a theatrical release in India afterwards.
The FCIT is starting to prepare for its tenth edition in 2025, always with the same aim: to share exciting and diverse cinema with the French population.
